Columbia Basin Veterans Coalition has evolved from the Benton/Franklin Veterans Service Coalition that was formed in the spring of 1992. It is located in the Tri-Cities in eastern Washington State and has an office in the City of Pasco, Washington. Its programs are available and offered to all veterans and their families in the five county areas of Adams, Benton, Franklin, Grant, and Walla Walla counties.
Our management team consists of a board of directors and officers of CBVC who work on a completely volunteer basis and no compensation is provided by CBVC. We operate primarily during the daytime, five (5) days per week with an after hours number listed for emergencies. We currently are using two (2) work study veteran students (from local community colleges or universities) with each student veteran working approximately twenty (20) hours per work. We hope to use authorized state agency monies to fund these positions.
CBVC operates to ensure that veterans get their required maximum earned benefits, personal support from other volunteer veterans, mentoring, job readiness training and placement, specific education training and assistance, counseling and spiritual guidance and from veteran supporters who assist the veteran in moving forward as quickly as possible. We serve any service member who has been discharged with an Honorable or General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions and their family members. We recognize the stress of combat and the lifetime impact on warriors and their families. We also recognize that the stress of dealing with support personnel, the extensive hours required and the striving to "fit back in" as well as the isolation from family and friends and the general environment change is a heavy burden to carry.
