Our Mission
To provide competent advice and service to every veteran requesting or needing help in acquiring benefits and career development. Mentors will "fill the gap" between established governmental programs and the needs of the veteran. In addition, the mentor will provide access to the network of other veterans and veteran supporters.
Our Objectives
- Provide each veteran requesting service the listing of available veteran and community services
- Provide orientation to each veteran on how the mentoring program is organized and implemented
- Provide orientation and training for mentors
- Review and establish as applicable alternate methods of mentoring such as one-on-one mentoring, peer mentoring group, mentoring circles, and e-mentoring
- Establish a system for matching veterans and mentors to maximize the effectiveness and success of the mentoring experience
- Encourage each veteran receiving mentoring to become a future mentor
Introduction
Our purpose is to assist veterans who are separating from military service to identify and advance their careers. Our program connects these men and women with organizations, unions, colleges, and professionals throughout the Columbia Basin region, in order to provide career guidance, insight, education, and industry expertise.
Returning to civilian life can be a challenging process. The CBVC mentorship will help you begin focusing on your civilian career, to make sure that you can be as successful as possible once you separate from the military. In our program, you will get paired with a successful business professional in the industry or occupation that you want to work in. They will share with you their knowledge and experience, provide connections, and provide you information that you can’t get anywhere else.
If you are a veteran, or the spouse of a veteran, and are interesting participation in our program, please complete the mentee application. After completing the application form, save it and email it and your resume as an attachment to www.veterancoalition-CB.org.
